David and I met in college. To make a long story short, I
saw pictures of him and thought he was very handsome, learned that he had
been to India (as did I) and that God had given him a heart for the world and
its needs. I asked him out for coffee to ‘talk about India ,’ and that night we spent an
hour in prayer together in my art studio. I knew he was the man I had been
waiting on God for. We were married a year later. After being married we lived
in the Boston area, working with the homeless, helping refugees from the Middle
East navigate life in Boston, and learning more about Jesus. We were desperately trying to show people Jesus’ good news for their lives by just being loving neighbors
to them.
We love to garden and so each summer we planted our small plot with
veggies and gave the harvest to friends, neighbors and family. We knew that as
soon as we could, we would expand our garden so that we’d be able to bless more
people. One night David had a dream about
farming, and then he had the same dream for two more nights. He told me he felt
God was telling us to farm for Him and I was on board right away. We began taking books out
of the library on farming, specifically on growing veggies and livestock, in a
way that was honoring to God by being stewards of His creation and not
consumers. We heard about the refugee population in Maine and the needs they
had, so we started to pray about moving here. After a year of seeking God’s plan, He gave David a job here in Maine, working with refugees. God was beginning something good.
so excited to see God's faithfulness in your lives!
